Responsibilities:
Responsibilities of an associate veterinarian at Chittenango Animal Hospital include diagnosing and treating patients, performing surgery, and educating both clients and staff members. Veterinarians are salaried (plus production) and typically work 4 days per week, with a dedicated weekday off, plus alternating Saturdays (usually two saturdays per month). Veterinarians share responsibility for weekend coverage (answering machine and taking care of pets in the hospital). Patient care and record keeping are to be of primary importance and should meet published professional standards and guidelines of practice.
Qualifications
DVM or equivalent.

Salary:
$100,000-$125,000 starting salary depending on experience, plus production bonus.
Percentage Based Salary Info:
Production bonus is based on 22% of revenue generated compared against salary and benefits. Consistently high revenue will result in upward adjustment of salary. Production is calculated quarterly a

Case Load:
Most DVM's at Chittenango will routinely see 12-18 patients per appointment day, and will be a healthy mixture of wellness, sick, urgent, young, adult and geriatric. Surgery days may have anywhere from 4-10 patients depending length of procedure and the surgeon can go home once all patients are recovered, charted and discharge instructions with prescriptions made ready. Emergency referral is at doctor discretion and there are no after hours emergency calls. Although predominantly small animal, the doctors will occasionally see some exotic pets at their discretion. The hospital is involved with a local rescue organization that does works with small primates, as well as other local wildlife.

Micron has begun construction on a huge new semi-conductor factory, expecting to provide immense growth potential for the area. Chittenango is the home of L. Frank Baum, the author of "The Wizard of Oz" and the town hosts a yearly Oz-Stravaganza, which typically draws crowds from all over the country. The hospital is equipped with digital radiology, point of care ultrasound, point of care ECG with rapid cardiology consult, therapy laser, onsite lab with capabilities for routine blood analysis, pathology review and cytology.
