Responsibilities:
* Quickly assist patients and develop effective treatment plans in emergency situations. * Communicate clearly with clients and provide excellent medical care. * Perform emergency procedures such as centesis, wound repair, urinary emergency catheterization (and more) * Collaborate with the team to improve patient care and teamwork. * Educate clients about injuries, illnesses, and treatments. * Build positive relationships with clients, patients, and referring veterinarians.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, you need a DVM, VMD, or similar degree and must be able to get a license to practice in Massachusetts. You also need experience in emergency animal care, such as through an internship, mentorship, or work as an ECC associate. We want someone who works well with others from different backgrounds and with different expertise. We have a fast-growing animal hospital with locations in Buzzards Bay and Dennis, Massachusetts. Our team includes over 22 specialists across nine different specialties, with plans to grow. Our hospitals are equipped with many types of diagnostic and treatment tools, such as: * Anesthesia and intensive care ventilators * A portable ventilator * Oxygen cages * Pulse oximetry * Capnography * Digital X-ray * A GE multi-slice helical CT scanner * Endoscopy * Ultrasound (for emergency room and specialized uses) * Continuous and 6-lead ECG * Direct and indirect blood pressure monitoring Each hospital also has an on-site laboratory that can perform: * Complete blood counts (CBC) * Chemistry profiles * Blood gas analysis * Electrolyte testing * Lactate testing * Coagulation testing (PT, aPTT, and viscoelastic coagulation monitoring) We also maintain a blood bank and can prepare and administer IV nutrition.
