Your Role at Wave
As an Emergency Veterinarian, you'll be a critical part of our hospital’s round-the-clock care model. You'll manage a wide variety of emergency cases, collaborate with highly skilled technicians and doctors, and provide the highest level of care to both patients and their families.
Job Summary:
We are seeking compassionate and skilled Emergency Veterinarians to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in emergency medicine and critical care, demonstrating excellent diagnostic, surgical, and decision-making skills in high-pressure situations. You will work in a fast-paced environment, providing urgent medical and surgical care to a variety of animal patients.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide high-quality emergency and critical care to patients in need of urgent medical attention.
• Diagnose and treat a variety of conditions, including trauma, toxicities, respiratory distress, shock, and other life-threatening situations.
• Perform emergency procedures and surgeries, such as wound management, Foreign Bodies, Pyometra, C-sections, GDV corrections, splenectomies.
• Utilize advanced diagnostic tools, including radiology, ultrasound, in-house laboratory testing, and blood transfusion protocols.
• Collaborate with veterinary technicians, specialists, and support staff to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Effectively communicate with pet owners regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, and prognosis in a compassionate and professional manner.
• Provide guidance on follow-up care and collaborate with primary care veterinarians for case continuity.
• Maintain accurate and thorough medical records in compliance with hospital policies and industry regulations.
• Participate in continuing education and stay updated on advancements in emergency veterinary medicine.
• Adhere to hospital safety protocols, including infection control and handling of hazardous materials.
Qualifications
Qualifications & Requirements:
• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) degree from an accredited institution.
• Active and unrestricted veterinary license in New York.
• DEA license.
• Minimum of 3+ years of experience in emergency medicine.
• Proficiency in emergency diagnostics, anesthesia, and surgical procedures.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and quick decision-making skills under pressure.
