Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinarian to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal care and possess the necessary skills to provide high-quality veterinary services.
Responsibilities
- Conduct physical examinations on various animals
- Diagnose and treat illnesses and injuries in animals
- Perform spays and neuters and other surgical procedures as needed
- Prescribe medications and administer treatments
- Educate adopters and fosters on proper animal care and treatment plans
- Maintain accurate medical records for all patients
- Collaborate with veterinary technicians and other staff members
Requirements
- Degree in Veterinary Medicine from an accredited institution
- Valid California state veterinary license
- Strong knowledge of animal husbandry, disease control, veterinary medicine, and surgical procedures
- Experience in animal restraint, catheterization, and laboratory work
- Proficiency in aseptic techniques and animal handling
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work well under pressure and handle emergency situations

Minimum Qualifications
Employment Standards:
Knowledge of symptoms of animal diseases; medications associated with veterinary care and their proper use and dosage; State and Federal laws regulations, accepted standards, and SAWA policies and procedures regarding clinic operations, the practice of veterinary medicine, drug control, and animal care and handling; proper methods of safely handling and restraining a wide variety of animals; various breeds and species of animals; animal nutrition

Our animal shelter takes in between 1,200 - 1,400 dogs and cats every year. We have an excellent volunteer program and foster program where animals are also cared for.
