Responsibilities:
The York County SPCA’s Shelter Veterinarian will help oversee the care of all animals in the shelter, satellite locations and foster care. This will be accomplished by providing timely routine care, medical care, and surgical care based on each individual animal’s needs. The Shelter Veterinarian should work independently and collaboratively in providing high quality, progressive shelter medicine.
Qualifications
• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine or equivalent degree from an accredited veterinary college • Licensed to practice veterinary medicine in the state of Pennsylvania • Holds professional liability insurance

Case Load:
We see a mix of mostly canines and felines with some small mammals and exotics mixed in but can refer out for those cases if needed.

Additional Comments:
We are a very progressive shelter and have implemented current industry best practices. We are on track to end this year with a greater than 90% save rate. The medical team takes pride in treating all manageable medical and surgical cases and will allow referral to specialists when needed. We have in house dentistry, digital radiography, ultrasound, electrosurgical unit, in house IDEXX blood machines and urinalysis, tonometry, as well as various specialized surgical instruments. We also refer out to specialists when needed. Come make a real difference in the community and be the voice for homeless animals.
