This test requires 1 ml of serum. If possible, please submit serum from a same species control animal. Enzyme panel II is for animals with neurological storage diseases. The following enzymes are included: alpha-mannosidase tests for alpha-mannosidosis; ß-mannosidase tests for ß-mannosidosis; ß-galactosidase tests for GM1-gangliosidosis; ß-hexosaminidase and hexosaminidase A test for three forms of GM2-gangliosidosis; alpha-fucosidase tests for alpha-fucosidosis.
All diseases listed above are progressive in nature. For some, tremors are prominent features, for others ataxia, paraparesis and tetraparesis are more common.
A drastically shortened lifespan is expected.
The diseases listed above are inherited as autosomal recessive traits.
